Hello From The Other Side... Just Kidding. Hello From Franklin!
Merry (late) Christmas and Happy 2016! Just like every year, it floors me to look back on all the accomplishments of the past year. 2015 was incredible to me. I made some new friends, enjoyed the company of some old friends, and checked off a few goals on my list. There were a lot of highs and a lot of lows, but all in all, it was a strange, beautiful, and busy year. I spent my New Years with some people I love with all my heart; then, the next day we loaded up the car and headed 8 hours back to Tennessee.
Goodbyes are really hard; I’ve always hated them. For a girl who doesn’t like to cry in front of people, on January 2nd the tears wouldn’t stop. There’s something really strange about seeing your childhood room stripped of your everyday stuff. I know a lot of college students can probably relate. It’s like you’re taking a step into adulthood and part of you is really excited and the other part is wondering where the heck time went. I'm such a nostalgic person it's not even funny. You know how songwriters are.... we tend to be overly emotional haha.
Week 1 in my new apartment has been extremely fun. For the first few days we didn’t have any furniture other than a blow up mattress and a TV with no cable. I brought an old DVD player from home so we could watch movies but it’s so old that the picture color was pink and green. Needless to say, that made watching movies interesting. I ordered my couch several weeks ago so that was delivered Tuesday. I absolutely love it. I am a couch girl so obviously it’s only fitting that it’s the first thing to go in my apartment. I also bought a beautiful red chair from World Market. I carried that bad boy out of the store all by myself. It was really hilarious watching me and Mom try to fit that thing in the truck. I’m really proud of myself. I have been blessed enough to buy all of my furniture with my own money. Yes, I realize how nerdy that kind of sounds but I find it rather exciting! (I'm turning into an old person I can feel it...)
Mom and I have really enjoyed driving around learning the area. I think I’m finally getting my bearings on where everything is and possibly even a few shortcuts. There is something super dangerous we’ve discovered… I’m only 5 minutes from a Target. We now have a joke that we need to make our “Daily Target Run” because for the first 4 days we went there everyday for something. Not to mention I had Chick-fil-a for lunch 2 days in a row. This is what happens when you move a country girl to the city! Haha. I have completely fallen in love with a place called The Factory. If you ever want to eat a delicious cronut I suggest going to Five Daughters Bakery (thanks Suzy for the recommendation!). Mom and I went the other morning and it's like heaven in your mouth.
So that's just a little summary of my week. I hope the first week of 2016 has treated you guys well! Thanks for taking the time to keep up with me. Please let me know what you guys spent your first week of the new year doing. I miss my NC friends but I’m loving it here!
I love ya! xxC
