Long Bio
Carson Hill is creating a name for herself across the southeast as a fiery singer, clever songwriter, and skilled guitarist. She began writing and performing her original songs at an early age, winning over the hearts of many in her home state of North Carolina; at the age of eighteen, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue her songwriting career.
Everywhere she goes, Hill takes the stage by storm, particularly at prominent venues from the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville to the Double Door Inn in Charlotte. She has also opened for national talents like singer-songwriter Edwin McCain, the legendary John Ford Coley, Johnny Rivers, and Grammy Award winner Anthony Hamilton. She has entertained thousands for Feld Motor Sports Monster Jams at arenas in her home state, and more recently, she’s been traveling all over the United States delighting folks with her witty lyrics and soulful voice at Vintage Market Days.
Carson’s music is an invigorating mix of americana and country with pop elements. At the age of sixteen, Carson released her first singles,"Under The Skin” and "Staying Low," produced by founding member of Blind Melon, Brad Smith. The official music video for “Under The Skin” featured Carson’s friends and family, and her meaningful lyrics and positive message of self-love and inner beauty caught the attention of many. As the video started trending, it was featured on people.com and has gained over twenty thousand views.
The Heart of a Songwriter—Hill's 2018 release produced by Keith Harris in Nashville, TN—is an EP filled with stories close to Carson’s heart.
“Working with Keith on this music has been refreshing. We definitely experimented heavily in finding the right sound. The EP tells stories of love and heartbreak, the pain of growing out of a friendship, not letting the bitterness of others rub off on you, and includes an ode to the legendary Willie Nelson, who is one of my biggest songwriting heroes. To me, these songs embody the essence of the heart of a songwriter.”
In the spring of 2022, Carson released a long-awaited single titled “FAKE” inspired by her life in an entertainment industry town.
“In a world full of filters, edited photos, and everyone downright faking everything, I was so fed up. I had to vent. That’s ultimately what ‘FAKE’ ended up being about. It was hilarious and a little cathartic to poke fun at people who take this all so seriously,”
Hill says of her playful, tongue-in-cheek single.
In 2024 Hill with friend and producer Keith Harris released her much-anticipated second EP, Best Years. A six-song collection, Best Years is a poignant commentary on the experiences and challenges twenty-somethings are facing in the world today. Despite the focus on the highs and lows of youth, Carson’s old soul shines through in passionate, introspective lyrics that resonate with people in all stages of life. The lead single “Mountain Honey” gives a heavy nod to some of Hill’s most notable musical influences like Sheryl Crow and Kacey Musgraves.
When discussing the process of the project, she has this to say:
“This EP and these songs go back to the root of what made me fall in love with music—confessional songwriting. I was going through so much personally when I wrote some of these songs, and writing was the only way I could make sense of what I was feeling. There’s something beautiful in being at your lowest, but clinging to that unrelenting hope the best is still yet to come, even if there’s nothing on the horizon. I hope people can see their own lives in the pieces of mine I put into this music.
Continuing her love of lyrics, Carson’s most recent single, The Starling, was released alongside a hauntingly beautiful music video. The imagery paints quite the picture for all who listen.
When asked about her dreams, she says
“I wouldn’t mind touring. That’s my biggest goal. I love performing and sharing my songs with others, and I’ve always wanted to see the world with my music. Long term, I wouldn’t mind being known for songwriting. At the end of the day, I just want to bring something special to people’s lives through my music.” She pauses, looking thoughtful before laughing. “…And it would be pretty cool to be able to pay rent too.”
Talking about her music never fails to make Carson smile.
